I do believe that as the Holy Spirit continues to guide me to write this sermon, we will come to understand why it was His perfect will that I started this sermon series in Revelation 12. For what we see in this chapter is what we saw in historic record unto this day wherein we, the “remnant of her seed” is now blessed and called forth as the obedient body of Christ who is soon to receive the latter rain as promised by our Creator, Saviour and eternal King, Jesus Christ. So, please open your bibles to Revelation 12, as we begin this journey into His Word and His will. It is my prayer and yours I am sure that His obedient remnant children are soon to be blessed with a refreshing from on High.

By the way; those that need additional verification on my findings in these prophetic studies, after sharing my thoughts I will share what the 9th hour pioneers stated in writing. Men like, James White, A.T. Jones, Steven Haskel, Josiah Litch and even William Miller just to name a few. I share their written statements so as to verify we are all on the same page. Strangely enough however, Sister White doesn’t seem to touch on a lot of the verses in the way of defining the prophetic symbols the way the forefathers did. But she does touch on some here and there and so much of what I found to verify the prophecies with historic record is in fact from the forefathers who as we know were prophesied in both Malachi 4:6 and Luke 1:17 to have hearts that were towards us, the children in the final days. And we the children have hearts turned towards the truth they studied up so as to better understand the days we now live in. That all being said. Let’s begin…

Revelation 12:1-17, (1) “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 

As students of prophecy, we know the ‘woman’ represents the true and obedient church. When we get to verses 6,14 & 17 we will go into a bit more detail; but for those listening that recently stepped out of Roman Catholicism, be it as an actual Catholic or any of the Protestant churches of today, which as prophesied in Revelation 13:3-4 have “wondered after the beast” in Rome, we will soon see how Rome lied claiming this woman in the prophecy is the virgin Mary.

When we look into the prophetic statement regarding this woman being “clothed with the sun” as well as having the “moon under her feet,“ we understand this to be the obedient church standing in the light of Gospel truth while on the foundation of the Old Testament (“moon”) truth that was exemplified even more in the New Testament that she is clothed with.

“The woman is the true church of Christ. The sun is the gospel light in which she is clothed. The moon is the former dispensation, or the Old Testament, which is now obscured by the more glorious dispensation of the gospel; the church is represented as having it under her feet, to denote that she stands on the foundation of the prophets and patriarchs, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. The crown of twelve stars represents the ministers of Christ. {1838 JoL, PSC 172.2}

(2)  And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. 

The Christian church (“woman”) was soon to come into existence when Jesus came as prophesied in over 300 prophecies but in context to the timing of this prophecy, we see in Isaiah 9:6 it says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

Jesus came to declare truth that will bless some and anger others as historic record confirms. One can see the pain of persecution was right there at the start of the church’s arrival via the Pharisees and Rome. The woman immediately sought to be delivered (freed) from her enemies. We can see that when the church began, persecution was so hot the people of God cried out for deliverance from it. Therefore, it is fitting that the symbol of child birth is used here. For even in reality, we see that when the child is finally born, the joy of the woman forgets all about the pain as will be the case when we step into New Jerusalem day one.

In fact, Jesus prophesied on this in John 16:21-22 that, “A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.  (22)  And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.”

(3)  And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

“a great red dragon” = the satanic fury of the governmental powers that be against Christianity that are both controlled and fueled by satanic bloodlust.

“Under the symbols of a great red dragon, a leopardlike beast, and a beast with lamblike horns, the earthly governments which would especially engage in trampling upon God’s law and persecuting His people, were presented to John. The war is carried on till the close of time. The people of God, symbolized by a holy woman and her children, were represented as greatly in the minority. In the last days only a remnant still existed. Of these John speaks as they “which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (ST Nov. 1, 1899).

As students of prophecy, we already know, the “seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads” = Pagan Rome at this time.

Joshua V. Himes, who worked hand in hand with William Miller stated back in 1842 that, “Rome, in its pagan state, symbolized as the great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads, refer xii. 3. {November 16, 1842 JVHe, HST 66.16}

Notice that later in Revelation 17:9 when Pagan Rome’s power was already transferred to Papal Rome it says that “The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.” As we know via the popes that claim global authority, they love to uplift Rome to the point they literally built Vatican city on those same seven hills. One of the Popes names Pius IX even declared his office to be that of Caesar when he stated in his “Discorsi” (I., p. 253), said:  “The Caesar who now addresses you, and to whom alone are obedience and fidelity due.”

And we know “mountain” is also defined as a “hill” in the Greek, (Strong’s# G3735) this further defines Pagan and today Papal Rome as being the main persecutor of God’s people for it is clearly declared in the Catholic Encyclopedia on page 529 that “It is within the city of Rome, called The City on Seven Hills, that the entire area of Vatican State Proper is now confined”

Encyclopedia Britannica also confirms under the query, “Seven Hills of Rome” is the “group of hills on or about which the ancient city of Rome was built. The original city of Romulus was built upon Palatine Hill (#1) (Latin: Mons Palatinus). The other hills are the Capitoline,(#2) Quirinal, (#3) Viminal,(#4) Esquiline,(#5) Caelian,(#6) and Aventine (#7) (known respectively in Latin as the Mons Capitolinus, Mons Quirinalis, Mons Viminalis, Mons Esquilinus, Mons Caelius, and Mons Aventinus).”

And just so you know, in prophecy the number “seven“ is used to declare completeness in prophecy. And as we know Satan always mimics the Lord so as to deceive mankind to worship him as a god as prophesied in Isaiah 14:14.

Also note that the number “ten“ in prophecy depicts perfection as well when we see how our God wrote Ten Commandments. Satan’s image here has “ten horns” as a show of both mockery as well as prophetic identification in that those same “ten horns“ are used to describe this antiChristian beast in Daniel_7:24.

Joshua V. Himes stated “That the church were to be in a state of trial for a season, here called “two days,” cannot be doubted, when Christ himself has said, “in the world ye shall have tribulation,” and “these have come through much tribulation,” that is “torn and smitten.” But let us inquire, by what means they will thus suffer. Daniel says, vii. 7, “After this, I saw in the night visions, and, behold a fourth beast dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly, and it had great iron teeth: it devoured, break in pieces, and stamped the residue (or people of God) with the feet of it.” Again in Revelations xii. 3, “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.” {August 2, 1841 JVHe, HST 65.20}

NOTE: the “two days” referred to here by J.V. Himes is found in Hosea_6:2. Which is later confirmed as a prophetic fact in the parable of the “Good Samaritan” that Christ shared in Luke_10:30-35.

As for the prophetic whisper of Hosea 6:2-3 that speaks on the “two days” mentioned here by J.V Himes. It says this in Hosea 6:2-3 that, “After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.  (3)  Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.”

When you look into the “Good Samaritan” prophetic parable of Christ to compare it to what Hosea just said, you will see that at the end of “two days,“ (which is 2000 years to the Father, as per that which is written in 2 Peter 3:8) in the last generation the “former rain” comes upon us first so as to ready us for the “latter rain” which falls upon the obedient remnant in the final days to “revive us.” Then at the start of the “third day,” which is actually the start of the 1000 years that commences at the end of the plagues when Christ returns to “raise us up” from the graves all those that died in the Lord the last 6000 years and we will then ascend to Heaven to “live in His sight” for eternity.

Notice that our calculation on the “third day” is confirmed in that Joshua V. Himes and others thought the “third day” was actually in 1843 at what they believed was the “second coming” and prophecy calls the “great disappointment” prophesied in Revelation 10:10.

“This dragon power began its power over the saints when the league was made with him B. C. 158–and will end in 1842. Then the third day will begin 1843” [See. Ad. Lib. No. 3, page 61] {January 25, 1843 JVHe, HST 149.4}

This then confirms that the “third day” is still all about the return of Christ in that even though they were wrong about the date back then, (as prophesied in Revelation 10:10) they still believed it was to commence at our Lord’s glorious return. And now that we know the truth now regarding the “great disappointment” as prophesied in Revelation 10:10, we can rest assured that the “third day” is actually the start of the 1000 years.

(4)  And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

In prophecy, the term, “tail“ is defined as falsehood and lies. The fact Satan invented lying as the real “original sin,“ in Isaiah 14:14 and not as Rome defines, this confirms the definition. And when it comes to how “the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth.“ Most, if not all Christians know a third of Heaven fell with Satan to be banished to earth when he proclaimed the lie which was believed by a third of the angels. But not many know about other details regarding his banishment. Notice the following.

“Over seven hundred and fifty years before the Saviour’s birth, Isaiah wrote: “Before the Child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.” The death of Herod occurred when the Jewish nation was ruled by its king, aided by the Sanhedrin and the priests; and in the removing of the kings, the “dragon,” through Rome, cast the third part of the stars of heaven to the earth. The divine hand which wrote this history cannot be hidden; for the very language which was literally fulfilled in Jerusalem, describes, with equal accuracy, the great fall in heaven, when Satan was cast out together with one-third of the angels,- those who adhered to his principles. {1905 SNH, SSP 214.2}

“The Jewish government was composed of three different offices, viz. Kings, High Priests and Sanhedrim, or Seventy Eiders. These, in prophetic language, are called stars. One of these offices, to wit. that of kings, was taken from the Jews; and cast to the earth, that is, Roman government. {October 1, 1841 JVHe, HST 97.4}

Next, we get to the prophetic statement that speaks of when the dragon (Satan) stood before the woman who was “ready to be delivered.“ This speaks of the children of the church that hunger and thirst after righteousness so as to be ready to be “delivered” in Christ from the “leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees” Jesus spoke of in Matthew 16:6. These are the obedient people of God as described earlier in verse 2.

Brothers and sisters; I would think we can all say in unison that we have also been “delivered” by Christ to this day and especially so as to what was prophesied in verse 10 of this chapter, of which we will get to later in the series. To verify and confirm that Christ still delivers to these final days, our Creator, Saviour and King Jesus said in Matthew 28:20 “lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”

And just a reminder for those of us that will live unto plague one and those of us in that blessed number that live on during the plagues, just as the people of God were “ready to be delivered” from Roman influence as we saw happen 2000 years ago, as well as during the Inquisition, and then today and even unto the last 15 days of plague #6.

The next prophetic statement in the verse speaks on how Satan, who is using Rome now, wants “to devour her child as soon as it was born.” Here we see that Satan’s attempts at preventing the start of the Christian church by killing Jesus when He was born as well as persecuting and killing the Christians thereafter. (See Matthew_2:13 & Acts_4:27) The fact the prophecy of verse 6 later shows the “woman” fleeing into the wilderness confirms the believers in Christ were in fact to be targeted by Satan. J.V. Himes stated…

“The Romans had reigned over the Jews a long time previous to the birth of Christ, and therefore was prepared, “for to devour her child as soon as it was born,” which was fulfilled in Herod, see Matt. 2. 13, he being placed upon the Jewish throne by the Roman power. “And she brought forth a man child,” Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, typifying the church, Isaiah 9:6 & 7; “who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron:”–denoting the power of Christ to break in pieces and subdue all the kingdoms of the earth. Psalm 2:9, Rev. 19:15. {October 1, 1841 JVHe, HST 97.4}

(5)  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Now let’s look at the prophetic statement that “she brought forth a man child.” This speaks of Jesus Christ in reality as well as the obedient people of God prophetically that have always “brought forth Christ” so as to glorify Him out of love for Him. For in reality, Christ walked a mile in our flesh. (See Hebrews 4:14-16) Therefore, in our flesh we will do all we can to “bring forth Christ.” William Miller also stated…

“And she brought forth a man child,” Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, typifying the church, Isaiah 9:6 & 7; “who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: {1833 WiM, ESH 50.3}

Just as we will reign with Christ in heaven throughout the ages, Christ was always with His obedient followers as many Christians were purposely placed in positions of authority in the church as well as government throughout history to allow Jesus to “rule with a rod of iron” wherein once God’s will is declared via His people and the obedient Christians accomplish it, no man can change it. But nothing will compare to reigning with Christ in New Jerusalem once we leave this sin filled world.

Next, we see that “her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.” This speaks of the mission of the fact Jesus was successful in that not only did Satan fail to kill Him before His ministry started via Herod, nor was Satan able to kill Jesus before His ministry was done via the apostate Jewish leaders, Christ’s death on the cross confirmed, glorified and gave eternal power unto His prophesied work of salvation for all of mankind. Jesus ascended unto His Father, and was accepted as the perfect sacrifice for all that believe in the Lord and His reason for coming, dying and resurrecting. In short, it all backfired on Satan once again.

“The Saviour lived among men for thirty-three years, an example in childhood, youth, and manhood, of the possibilities of a life with God. He was crucified, yet He triumphed over death. Satan thought that he held Christ securely, but the moment of exultation was a signal for his eternal defeat. Even then, a shout rang through heaven as the victory over death was seen. He broke the fetters of the tomb, and “her Child was caught up unto God and to His throne.” Again heaven resounded with praise; for the triumph was seen, and the terrors of evil were recognized as never before. {1905 SNH, SSP 216.2}

“And her child was caught up unto God and to his throne.” Christ has ascended up on high and led captivity captive. See John 6:62. Eph. 4:8–10. {October 1, 1841 JVHe, HST 97.4}

James White stated that “Christ will reign on the throne of the Father in the kingdom of grace until human probation shall close. David, speaking of this gracious reign, says: “The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion. Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.” Ps.110:1-3. Peter speaks of Christ as “being by the right hand of God exalted.” Acts 2:33. And Paul, speaking of the priesthood of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary, says that “we have such an High Priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the Heavens.” Heb.8:1. He exhorts the church to look to “Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Chap.12:2. {1865? JW, TTKGG 3.1}

Can you now see that which was penned in Hebrews 4 as a bold and blessed gift unto the people of God who, if they were to stand side by side with the apostles 2000 years ago watching Jesus ascend, what Paul shared in Hebrews 4 bolsters the faith to the point it’s as if we can literally see Him ascend confirming His promise to be with us always even unto the end of the world. Paul said in Hebrews 4:14-16, “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.  (15)  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  (16)  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Sister White stated back in 1901, “What is our profession? We profess to be following Christ. We claim to be Christians. Do we, then, reveal the Christlikeness? Do we serve the Saviour intelligently? Does the love of God continually flow from us to others? Do we, in word and action, confess our Redeemer? Do we conform our lives to His holy principles? Are we pure and undefiled? Christians must hold the beginning of their confidence firm unto the end. It is not enough to profess the faith. There must be a patient endurance of all trials and a brave resistance to all temptations. Faith can be maintained only by bringing the Christian religion to the test of practice, thus demonstrating its transforming power and the faithfulness of its promises (MS 42, 1901).

The Son of God . . . has fulfilled His pledge, and has passed into the heavens, to take upon Himself the government of the heavenly host. He fulfilled one phase of His priesthood by dying on the cross for the fallen race. He is now fulfilling another phase by pleading before the Father the case of the repenting, believing sinner, presenting to God the offerings of His people. Having taken human nature and in this nature having overcome the temptations of the enemy, and having divine perfection, to Him has been committed the judgment of the world. The case of each one will be brought in review before Him. He will pronounce judgment, rendering to every man according to his works (MS 42, 1901).
